The winner of the State Sprint final from Victoria will then take on the country’s best sprinters in the Group 1 National Sprint Championship at Albion Park on August 25, this year worth $75,000 to the winner.
Victoria will be hoping to return to the winners’ circle this year, with the state last claiming victory with Pure Octane in 2005.
Some of the standout sprinters nominated include the likes of Kilty Lad – who will start favourite in this Saturday night’s Group 1 Hudson Pacific Maturity Classic – and the Robert Britton-trained Symmetry, a greyhound with prizemoney levels already exceeding a quarter of a million dollars.
The Wheeler family are again well represented, with a whopping 21 greyhounds nominated for the Victorian sprint series, led by Golden Easter Egg champ Radley Bale and recent Geelong track record holder Dyna Tron.
Group racing at The Meadows continues this Saturday night with the running of the Group 3 AWM Distance Championship and the Group 1 Hudson Pacific Maturity Classic.
