Albion Park is set to host an 11-race program on Thursday night from 6:13PM local time. The meeting is headlined by three heats of the Garrard’s Gold Cup run over the 710m and four heats of the Garrard’s Gold Bullion run over the 520m. The program features the likes of Valpolicella, Morton, and Bear’s Bullet.

Morton returns to Albion Park after taking out the Group One QLD Derby. The son of Tommy Shelby boasts an impressive record, having won 11 of his 18 starts. Since winning the QLD Derby, he has raced once when finishing down the track in a heat of the Group One National Derby. After jumping slowly from box four, he was crunched at the first turn, which ended his chances of back-to-back group-one glory. He has since been freshened and targeted for this race. He appears to have a love affair with this track and trip, having won both of his starts in blistering times. He’ll appreciate a muster dog drawn underneath him as well as a vacant outside box.

Race 5: Professor Snitch (8)
The second of four Gold Bullion heats throws up an interesting battle where the wings dominate the betting. Professor Snitch is capable of running the hands off the clock, and the daughter of Sennachie appears to be in good order after a blowout on Saturday when defeating Blue Hornet by upwards of five lengths. She has a faultless record off box eight, having won all three starts. Expect her to get clear air early, with the likes of Stone Cold Blue and Mr. Springtime wanting to rail underneath her.

Race 11: Distant Flash (6)
Distant Flash is armed with a powerful finish and will be hard to hold out in the last. The son of Hooked On Scotch hit the line with venom last week over the 520m at Albion Park, running second to Speed Zone in 30.40. Thursday’s race appears well within his grasp, with many of these dogs needing to lead to show their best. Expect Distant Flash to sit just off the speed and come home with a strong burst.
