Saige Tenniele’s victory: Group 1 National Sprint Championship recap
Saige Tenniele delivered an astounding performance to clinch victory in the Group 1 National Sprint Championship Final at The Meadows on Saturday night.
As the 525m feature contest began, all eyes were on the superstar Postman Pat, trained by Jason Thompson and favoured at $1.50 by leading online greyhound bookmakers.
However, Saige Tenniele, trained by Kody Charles and priced at $10 to start, was poised to upset the competition and proudly represent Western Australia.
At the start, Aussie Rocks ($8) surged ahead, taking the lead into the first turn, while Postman Pat moved into the second position.
Approaching the second turn, the field tightened, and Tinker Norm ($5) emerged as the frontrunner, setting the stage for an intense finish.
Saige Tenniele surged forward, overtaking the competition at the finish line, triumphing over Aussie Rocks and Tinker Norm by a mere half-length, with a recorded time of 29.95.
