Andy Lord Dominates With Five Winners In Canberra

With the eventful week at Canberra last week, Gunning trainer Andy Lord will be happy that Sunday’s meeting got off the ground, snagging five winners in the ten race card, four of the five coming in the first four events.

Having been trialing the house down for weeks Ritza Rage, Mad Marty Bee and American Titch all broke their maiden’s in good times over their respective first three races.

The fourth winner on the trot coming from short price favourite Half As Mate who made the most of the red box stepping smartly to post a 7.61 first section, with an overall 17.88.

Lord’s fifth winner coming in race nine when new comer to the kennels Five To Life rattled home over Berella Chelsea in 25.46.

With the track in great condition other outstanding runs of the evening included Mark Bell’s Bannockburn Hope, who led all the way to take out heat two of the Canberra Mower Services 0-2 wins series in a very smart 30.46.

Heat one of the series went the way of local trainer Les Wolhuter trained Bolting Byrnesy who also put in a smart run leading from start to finish in 30.80.

Neil Collins returned to Canberra with Walkaway Tiny, who stepped smartly and led throughout, sneaking home over Pedro’s Mobile and Heavily Armed in 25.45.

Litter brother Walkaway Freddy also found the winners circle in a classy top grade field in the fifth event.

The blue brindle dog winning from the one box, which now gives him a win from each alley and returns his career strike rate to 50 per cent, posting 7.69, BON 17.76 over Teeny Tiny and Jetwash.

The final event on the card went the way of Jerrawa trained Arctic Jet for Ken Staines.

The Black dog was impressive in his Coonamble maiden win back in October, punters waiting to get on board as the Bond x Midnight Amber dog led to post 7.66, 17.83.

All continues at Canberra this week, with a 530 Maiden series set down for the 22nd November. Canberra at this stage will not be enforcing performance trails for first starters, so we welcome all first starters to take part in the upcoming series, SKY Coverage on the heats.
