2024 Group 3 National Straight Track Championship: The final word
The 2024 Group 3 National Straight Track Championship final will be run and won today (Saturday, August 24) at Murray Bridge Straight Track, with the champion greyhound earning $28,000 of the almost $43,000 prize pool.
After some red-hot trials and a tumultuous few days in the greyhound betting market, the odds seem to have settled down just hours out from the rich straight track final.
Race favourite Cash On Delivery has maintained favouritism, but drifted out slightly from yesterday’s quote of +180 to +200.
At the same time, the Victorian representative Mile A Minute, the outright second favourite for the race, has firmed in from +300 to +210 at the best greyhound betting sites.
The only other greyhound to firm in greyhound betting was fellow Victorian greyhound Zipping Gryllis, who continued to get back closer to his opening quote of +380 after drifting out to +600 at one point in Straight Track Championship betting.
Zipping Gryllis is currently +400 in National Straight Track Championship betting.
All other greyhounds have been on the drift, including Express Ethics, who cannot find a friend with either greyhound punters or online bookmakers and is now a +450 chance in the race.
As a result of the top three in betting becoming clear, Hara’s Buddy drifted out +750, Sheezel drifted out to +1000, So Be It drifted out to +1200, and fans of Myall Ray can now secure +10000 odds about his chances.
2024 National Straight Track Championship Ratings
The ratings agree with the betting markets, with Mile A Minute and Cash On Delivery being the clear two with the best possible chance of being named 2024 National Straight Track Champion.
Both Mile A Minute and Cash On Delivery are just below the price we would need to get to have a bet on them this morning on greyhound betting apps.
Zipping Gryllis and Sheezel are the only two greyhounds offering any kind of mild value, although the value is now very thin.
Pro-active punters who secured as much as +3900 earlier in the week about Sheezel will be on very good terms with themselves this morning.
Of the two, Zipping Gryllis is the most credentialed to be able to chase down Mile A Minute or Cash On Delivery, but he will more than likely need to make up many lengths to be in the finish.
