The 38kg blue chaser by El Grand Senor and Bralyn Maisie (Firefly Boy – Moulamein) went to the boxes as favourite and at better than even money, represented great value.
Trained by Bradley Northfield, Bralyn Stalker (8) wasn’t the best away but he mustered pace quickly to cross Pace Ventura and be the first home in a one and three quarter length victory. He stopped the clock at 27.30, just shy of the personal best of 27.25 he recorded in the heats.
Pace Ventura (7) for Peter Simpson tried his heart out and was desperately unlucky not to lead into the back as he was in front past the post the first time but as he crossed he bumped off the rail and this gave Bralyn Stalker the opportunity to go around him. Just like in the Townsville Cup, he finished second.
Completing the top three was the veteran Dayseas Jet (1), who is trained by Glen Northfield.
No other runners made ground on the leaders and they were out of the race once Bralyn Stalker got to the lead.
Bralyn Stalker has now won 11 races from just 15 career starts. With the addition of the $25,000 prizemoney, he has earned connections close to $40,000 in his short career.
