Incident Information
The Wilsons Prom Cathedral fire is burning 7.5 kilometres south-east of the Wilsons Promontory entrance gate and is currently at Millers Landing. The fire is burning in a west direction and is estimated to be 5500 hectares in size, however this estimate will grow through the morning as we gather information. This fire is not currently posing a threat to communities.
We would like to advise residents north of Wilsons Promontory they will be observing increased amounts of smoke through the day as a result of fire activity and possibly flame when looking across Corner Inlet.
Core Advice
Even though this fire does not currently pose a threat, people in high risk bushfire areas are reminded to have a bushfire survival plan ready to implement during the summer period.
