The Bendigo Greyhound Racing Association (BGRA) and Bendigo Harness Racing Club have again joined forces to show their support for WomenCan and raise awareness about women's ovarian cancer through the Team Teal initiative.

On Thursday, February 8, 2024, they will host the Dual Code Race meeting with the aim of raising funds and increasing awareness for this cause.

BGRA, supported by Greyhound (GRV), will present a race card exclusively featuring female greyhounds.

“The race card for greyhounds has gained popularity year after year and perfectly aligns with the Dual Code Team Teal race night.

We are thrilled to be part of such a campaign,” expressed BGRA Manager Charlton Hindle.

Apart from the races, there will also be a special event covering a distance of 425 meters as well as heats for the maiden series.

“Thanks to GRVs Racing Department and their support, we have put together a program that caters to classes,” Hindle added.

“BGRA is dedicated to being a community club and feels privileged to continue its partnership, with Bendigo Harness Racing Club and Team Teal.

“Our aim is to collect, around $5,000 for this cause through a range of promotions throughout February and activities on the race night,” Hindle shared.

The racing lineup for the Team Teal race night includes:

  • Special event female greyhounds only – 425m – 1st $2,250
  • Maiden heats female greyhounds only (Final 16 Feb) – 425m
  • Mixed 6/7 female greyhounds only – 425m
  • Grade 5 No Penalty 425m (300+ Rank)(minimum 20 starts)
  • Grade 5 female greyhounds only – 500m
  • Grade 5 no city wins female greyhounds only – 425m

The BGRA and Bendigo Harness Racing Club warmly invite the community to join them for an exhilarating evening of racing while lending support to this crucial cause.
