Online wagering providers will be prohibited from offering any credit, voucher, reward, or other benefit as an incentive to open an account or to refer another person to open an account.
The move is notable as state government's usually allow their retail monopoly holder, the TAB and UBet; to have an exemption to the rules. This time there is NO exemption for Tabcorp.
Greyhound racing, horse racing and harness racing are inextricably entwined with betting. All licensed Australian bookmakers bet on greyhound racing. All licensed Australian bookmakers, including the TAB; offer signup bonuses with the exception of Bet365 who globally removed their bonus offers last year in response to increasing regulatory pressure in their home country of the United Kingdom. While the Department Of Social Services has allowed an 18 month timeline for all policy points to become active, it is believed the Bonus Bet Ban will be imposed before March 2019.
