THE spotlight will shine on WA this Saturday night with the running of the WA Derby (520m) at Cannington.

The 2017 series has attracted the best young male greyhounds from across the state, with the winner set to pocket a lucrative $40,000 for the 30-second gallop.

The favourite to win the race with most online bookmakers is track record holder Quick Jagger, who will just need a bit of clear room and luck in the early stages from box six to showcase what he is capable of.

Kennel mate Vanderwop is drawn perfectly in the red and is on the second line of betting ahead of three other runners also in single figures – Sassy Ginger (box five), Max Profit (box seven) and Pyredos Monelli (box eight).

The successful greyhound will add its name to the honour roll alongside some of the greats which have triumphed in the age classic since its inception in 1976.

Some of the most notable winners include Prince Of Tigers, Reggemite, Sun Hero, Mandagery Man and .

Below we have analysed the form and chances of each runner to give you the best chance of landing a winning bet, as well as comparing the best odds available from a range of leading online bookmakers.

The Group 2 WA Derby is race six at Cannington this Saturday night and will jump at 10.48pm.
