Albion Park Thursday tips, odds & quaddie | July 20, 2023
Albion Park is set to host 11 brilliant races on Thursday night from 6:42pm local time. The meeting is headlined by race eight, a fifth-grade final over the 520m featuring the likes of Commands Respect and Showpiece. To begin the night, there are four heats of a fifth-grade 600m series where the top two will qualify for next Thursday’s final.
Best Bet: Go Bing (Race 3)
Go Bing has been in brilliant form since stepping up to the 600m. The son of Sennachie has raced inclusively at this distance in his past six starts, resulting in two wins and four placings. In his most recent outing he was beaten by Brightest Gunn over the 630m at Ipswich by a head in 37.60, having won with 37.26 at track and trip a week prior. Leading looks the key for him over this distance and he will get all favours from box one, where he’s had five starts for three wins and two placings. Springtime Gold drawn directly outside him has shown a tendency to use the track a touch, which will also benefit his chances.
Best Bet
Race 3 –
Form: 3112 | Career: 36: 11-8-4 | Trainer: Anthony Zammit
Next Best: Bogie Hurricane (Race 2)
This two-year-old has been racing in terrific form over his past five starts, winning three and placing in two. The son of Keybow has shown his versatility in these races having run at both Ipswich and Albion Park with distances ranging from 520m to 710m. Thursday’s race appears well set up for him with Rolling Empire the likely leader from box six. Bogie Hurricane will appreciate two outside boxes vacant as he likes to use the track. He beat Valpolicella comfortably just a month ago and will enjoy the smaller field more.

Best Value: Super Shanks (Race 7)
Bat Sign takes up a lot of market percentage in the seventh, which allows plenty of worthy rivals to run around at a good price. Super Shanks started his career by doing an apprenticeship at Capalaba with most of his starts down the straight. He has only recently stepped up to the 520m at Albion Park but has made quite the impression. In two starts, he has run third and fourth respectively with runs behind Hara’s Herbie and Brisbane Cup winner Elite Machine. Thursday’s map appears good for Super Shanks, with no speed expected outside him and a few good carts inside with Hopeful Lana and Tungsten Miss set to pressure the favourite.
