Wentworth Park racing tips

Another amazing 10-race meeting is set down for Saturday night at Wentworth Park. The final of the dogs-only and bitches-only race series will be the highlights, but there is also a very nice non-graded race and a quality staying race as well. When you throw in the rest of the quality graded races, it’s a hot night of greyhound action in the middle of winter at Wenty Park.

Dogs Final Tip: One Hot Bandit (Race 7)

This guy gave nothing else a chance in the heats and flew around the Glebe circuit in a sizzling 29.59, which is scintillating for a cold Wednesday night. He is probably better drawn out a touch wider, having won three from three from box eight, and has only a third from his only box two start so far; however, with moderate beginners either side of him, it may not make a difference. He has five wins and a third from seven goes at Wentworth Park, and his only miss here was in the Vic Peters Classic.

Bitches Final Tip: Spring Gold (Race 6)

You could make a genuine case for about six of these runners. Courtesy of the box draw, goes on top. Her early pace should be enough to hold out the rising stars drawn immediately outside her. On early sectionals there could be four or five dogs all arriving at that first turn a length behind her, and if they mix, she will be off and gone. From there, it will be case of whether the two strong dogs in the field – and – miss the trouble and come after her.

Best Bet at Wentworth Park: Showman Jack (Race 8)

loves the inside draw and will have a tail that will drag him right into this race. He trailed last week and went the long way around to grab her in the shadows of the post. He will be much fitter from that hitout after a two-month break and will again be looking to sit in behind Akii Princess in the run to the first turn and then pull out down the back and put her away. Jack has 10 wins here and from nine red-box draws has four wins and three seconds.

Best Value Bet: Tiggerlong Car (Race 9)

Plenty will want to take on Tiggerlong Car after his recent couple of failures. He hasn’t drawn very well in those runs, or begun particularly well, but he goes back to his favourite box and this may be all the catalyst to turn the form around. He has the second-best PB among the field – 29.83, behind Fat Boy’s Charm. He has started at double-figure odds his last three and should be out in that range again this weekend.
