Leg 1 – Bendigo – Race 6: Alpha Ares To Place (Top Two) $2
Alpha Ares has been racing in much stronger company of late and if he can get through the first corner without finding too much trouble, he should prove very hard to hold out. In recent weeks he has been taking on metropolitan company and he hasn't had a lot of luck in running, the wide draw suits today and there appears to be very little speed drawn underneath.
Leg 2 – Geelong – Race 6: Mepunga Armagh To Win $1.60
Mepunga Armagh is a little on the short side but he appears ideally placed in the seven and he does have quite a bit on his rivals. He is normally a very good beginner and the only other chaser in the event with speed is the yellow and she should carve up the inside division. He has been racing in Free For All company in recent times and the drop back in class tonight should help him regain some confidence. The $1.60 quote is probably a good price as he does appear to be a moral.
Leg 3 – Lismore – Race 5: Nymeria To Place $1.83
Nymeria is an exciting sprinting prospect and she was far from disgraced when placed in her heat last week. The inside draw should be a big advantage, as I expect the one and three to dominate early and she should drop in just behind them for a nice sit. Her acceleration mid race is her biggest asset and if she can avoid trouble in the early stages she should challenge the leaders mid race and from there I can't see her missing a top three finish.
