Best Bet: Fahey's Magic (Race 4)

Fahey's Magic got the job done for us when a short-priced favourite back on March 8 and has been kept fresh for this ever since. Fahey's Magic comes out of the Group 2 Richmond Oaks series, where she beat eventual winner Yuko Girl by a length in her heat, but was flattened from her awkward box when trying to contest the lead in the final. There is no Yuko Girl or Wyndra All Class in this fourth-and-fifth-grade heat tonight. At Wentworth Park she is three wins from four starts with a second and has run some handy sub-30 runs. She has good early pace but is only a small girl, weighing in at around the 24kg mark. She is a touch awkwardly drawn in box five and will need to use that pace to cross this field. If she nails the start, box five won't be a concern and she should set up a race-winning lead early.

Danger:
Redeem Our Cash is one of only two other runners in this race to have broken the 30-second mark here at headquarters (Chasing Fernando the other) and she showed a glimpse of her very best last start, over the sprints at The Gardens. If she does produce her best and crosses to the lead early, she may get interference cover and could split and run away with the prize at a price.

Next Best Bet: Connections (Race 9)

This boy is likely to be a very short-priced favourite in the first heat of the Masters series. The Michelle Sultana-trained runner went around in the heats of the Easter Egg last week and matched motors with Wyndra All Class for a long way. Some would say if the boxes were reversed and Connections had have drawn inside Wyndra, then maybe Connections would be racing in the Egg semis rather than here. With that said, this is a massive drop in class, and with the coveted rails draw, it would be a brave person to tip against this flying machine. He has had box one three times in his career for a win and a second. His only unplaced run off box one was in the Richmond Derby last year. Definitely a dog to anchor your multis and should be winning this race.

Danger:
If there is one, it is probably Aussie Cortis – not to beat Connections, but to begin well, cut to the fence and cause trouble for him. Romantic Storm is the only dog in the field capable of running a time to challenge Connections with a clear run. While his time was good in a Richmond Masters last week, it was over 400m and his best here was more than 12 months ago.

Best Value Bet: Rockstar Louise (Race 1)

The Rockstar breeds are flying of late for Shaun Evans, and Louise is no different. Her last two wins at Nowra and Dapto were very good, and although only over the short course were off this exact box. With all of the genuine pace in this race drawn in boxes three through six, there may well be a very willing battle in the charge to the first turn and a big chance of a tangle up. Mac Fly will move up the track, while Start Packing generally goes to the fence, and this might just give Rockstar Louise the chance to zip away down the middle of the track and grab the early lead and dash away. Evans is sure to have schooled her well at the track and have her ready for the full 520m. If the early odds hold, she will represent tremendous each-way value.
