Greyhound Racing Tips For Friday 4th September 2009
Welcome to Australian Racing Greyhound's Greyhound Racing Tips for Friday 4th September 2009 with Tips tonight from The Gardens (New South Wales), Geelong (Victoria), Richmond (New South Wales) and selected races from Mandurah (West Australia).
I know it's early but we'll try and cover all the Group 2 Black Tops heats at The Gardens this afternoon. This race which carries $30,000 to the winner and is sponsored by Kevin Gordon (of Lochinvar greyhounds fame) and his company Multicam Routing is open to the best 80 greyhounds and the club would be disappointed that they only received the 40 nominations and Hunter Valley pin-up girl Nova Keroma is not among them. Nevertheless there is some very good greyhounds engaged including the much improved Queenslander Voodoo Prince, Kenny Cheetham's Take The Kitty and multiple group winner Devine Road, amongst others.

With all this high Greyhound Racing action tonight with Greyhound Racing coming from The Gardens (New South Wales), Geelong (Victoria), Richmond (New South Wales) and selected races from Mandurah (West Australia), lets just recap betting advice for those tracks.
The Gardens is one of New South Wales' newest tracks and now the sole home of the NSW NCA. The track strongly favours early speed dogs but the 413m races should be avoided at all costs as they are decided more by interference than ability.The 515m races are worth betting on but the inside 3 boxes are all favoured and even good dogs will find it hard to cross from wide draws. The 600m trip, being a corner, start can often pose a difficult greyhound betting option and the inside box is a huge advantage. Few races are run over the 715m journey.
Geelong is considered to be a safe punting track especially over the 457m distance. The 347m starts are usually plagued by interference and terrible betting races, box 1 is an advantage and box 3 has a good record of this trip. The few 600m races run can produce good results but the short run to 1st corner has caused more than one betting plunge to go astray and does give an advantage to the box 1 runner. Over the 457m boxes 1 and 8 both share favouritism with the next most preferred draw box 7.
Richmond has always been a hot bed of greyhound betting activity, both good and bad; and it has always paid to follow educated money in most races at Richmond. The track has undergone some changes in recent years but the 535m races are generally safe betting events as most dogs will get their chance in the run. Richmond races over the 313m and 400m distances and these should be avoided as betting options. If you must bet, boxes 1 and 2 over the 313m and box 1 over the 400m journey are massive advantages. The inside 3 boxes are only slightly favoured in the 535m races and again the inside 3 boxes are slightly favoured over the longer 717m distance. Over the 618 box 1 can be an advantage with box 2 next best.
Mandurah can be a punters graveyard, the 492m distance, 647m distance and the 302m distances are corner starts and even the 405m start is only a short run before the corner. Good beginners are decidedly advantaged as are the red boxes over all 3 shorter distances. In the 302m races box 1 is a huge advantage and the same box features as prominently over the 405m, although the inside 4 boxes all perform well. Over the 492 distance box 1 is again a big advantage as is box 2. Over the 647m there is a very slight preference to the squeeze boxes, 3,4,5 and 6 but it is marginal.
Group 2 Black Top Heat 1 – The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 5 – Voodoo Prince
It is impossible to tip against the dramatically improved Voodoo Prince. This greyhound came from nowhere to run the track record in the Darwin Cup heats and then pushed Queen Lauryn all the way to break the record again but finish second to”The Queen” in the final. Returned home to Queensland and hasn't put a foot wrong winning 5 in a row at Albion Park and running a PB of 29.95. Has been beginning and leading all the way, so expect more of the same again.
Group 2 Black Top Heat 2 – The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 3 – Cindeen Shelby
On best from Cindeen Shelby would win this by the length of the straight but has struggled at recent starts despite racing against the best and winning last start at The Meadows in 29.92. Is probably not going quite as well as best form, but is pretty handy nonetheless. Has started there 5 times for 4 wins and have to trust she'll show something close to that form today. May get led by Devine Road to her inside but should prove too strong.
Group 2 Black Top Heat 3 – The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 2 – Hesa Felon
Hesa Felon showed enough during his recent Victorian efforts to suggest he will win this and win it easily. Loves and inside draw, has a good record at the track and form around him is top class. Last start was his first here and come from behind After Party to win in 29.84. Doubt he'll be behind anything tonight and will win by panels.
Group 2 Black Top Heat 4 – The Gardens Greyhounds – Race 8 – Box 2 – Take The Kitty
Red hot heat this one with Excel Like Time vs Take The Kitty. Shame Really Satisfies was a scratching as would've made this very interesting. Off box 1 have to assume Excel Like Time will try to establish a break over Take The Kitty to stave off the power finish, but Take The Kitty does have form for pinging in these type of races and won't surprise to see him go up outside La Voca and Excel Like Time and steal the rail heading down the back straight. Very classy at best and has run 29.30 here.
Geelong Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 1 – Dentax Bale
Interesting runner here with group winning Bale greyhound Dentax Bale being sent south to Graeme Bate, obviously in preparation for the rich Melbourne Cup series in November. Has had a few weeks off and have to assume he's been trialling here before his Geelong debut. Box 1 a huge advantage and as we already know a very classy greyhound.
Richmond Greyhounds – Race 2 – Box 1 – Tax Rort
Tax Rort did the job very nicely for us 2 starts back, but was never in it here last start on Monday. The box 1 draw here tonight gives him every chance again. Was a good thing beaten at 3 prior starts before winning and should appreciate this field and the draw tonight.
