With racing from Cranbourne (Victoria), Wentworth Park (New South Wales), Albion Park (Queensland) and Angle Park (South Australia), lets just review some of our betting advice for the way those tracks play.
Cranbourne races over the 311m, 520m and 699m distances. Punters should stay away from the 311m races as a short run to the first corner cause unpredictable results and leaders usually win. Box 8 is a huge advantage in these races. The 520m distance runs more consistently and the track show a more normal distribution of the four “bookend” boxes performing best. The 699m races are run infrequently and usually contain one standout selection.
Wentworth Park went from being a very fair track to a leader biased track with the addition of “transition turns” to the corners in the mid 90’s. Leaders have been advantaged ever since that track modification and consequently red box draws are small advantage over both the 520m and 720m distances now.
Albion Park was the first track in Australia to move to the finish-on lure system and it is definitely the better of the two Queensland TAB tracks. A lack of depth in a lot of races can cause upsets at Albion Park when favourites are over-rated or suffer interference. Tread warily when betting on the corner start 600m races; and the 700m races will often throw up odds-on favourites that have alot of weakness about them.
Angle Park is all about leading to the first corner, class dogs will knock up winning in South Australia as their is a definite lack of depth, even at higher grades. Again be wary of betting in 600m and 700m events at Angle Park as in many cases it is just the last throw of the dice for connections and there are very few genuine stayers.
Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 5 – Box 2 – Oh Cee Ya
Based on breeding Oh Cee Ya could be anything, being by highly rated import sire Premier Fantasy out if classy bitch Oh Behave. Has already put some form on the board winning a Meadows maiden in 30.22 but then finishing second from a wide draw in the final, running 30.47. Gets another inside draw here and if she ran up to the 30.22 Meadows run, would win this easily.
Cranbourne Greyhounds – Race 10 – Box 7 – Limburg Gem
Limburg Gem is ideally placed in these bitches only heats after making the SA Oaks final three starts ago, finishing fifth behind Jean Jeannie. has since won 3 races in a row at Sandown and past two here running 30.17, 31.11 and 30.47 respectively. Has been blessed by inside draws at those 3 starts and needs to get over or stay out from this draw but does look the best in the field by a a mile.
Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 6 – Box 1 – Snozz
The Jason Mackay trained Snozz looks the best of these after jumping well last week but then having no luck in running getting shuffled back to sixth. Is reported to be trialling very well and has an excellent record from box 1, having won 3 and placed 4 of 7 starts fromthis box. Is probably not going quite as well as he used to but showed with a recent 30.45 win here that we was still very capable and is rarely unplaced. Boxed to get the easy run and we’re likely to get nice odds about him tonight.
Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 7 – Box 3 – On Parole
The Adele Powell trained On Parole finished second behind Jedd Lion in the Dapto Auction final at her last start after finding a bit of interference and should have nearly won the race. Fronts up here in box 3, boxed outside two moderate beginners and should be able to assume control of the race very early on. Has only won 1 of 5 starts here so can do things wrong but looks very well placed in this.
Wentworth Park Greyhounds – Race 9 – Box 2 – Billy Bobaggings
Billy Bobaggings is starting to look a bit of a wealth risk with his tardy beginnings. Is no doubt the best greyhound in the race yet again, but has been giving away starts and then having to find a way through traffic. Is undoubtedly talented as evidenced by his Bulli 28.89 and Richmond 30.69 wins. Gets the same draw as last week and should know the way by now, just needs to step with them and get a little room to move.
