Manukau greyhound tips & quaddie | Silver Collar Day 2023
It is Silver Collar Day at Manukau this Sunday with 12 exciting races for the higher-graded greyhounds. Besides the $80,000 headline act, we also have the $30,000 Waterloo Cup at Group 1 level to look forward to. Racing is set to start at 12:50pm (NZST).
Best Bet: Opawa Superstar (Race 9)
The co-feature of the day is the time honoured Waterloo Cup over 527 metres and one of the bets of the day Opawa Superstar lines up wearing the striped rug and will be looking to keep his unbeaten record intact when jumping from this box. He is the reigning Auckland Cup holder and has won three of his four starts on this track. He has been a touch unpredictable from the start most recently but on those occasions he was jumping from wider box draws and he should be spot on today. His main dangers are the reigning champion Talbingo Bale to his immediate inside and a couple drawn wider out in Golden Logger and his kennel mate Opawa Linda.

Next Best Bet: Zipping River (Race 2)
The Auckland Derby comes up early in the afternoon and Zipping River has struck winning form at the right time after being successful at Cambridge at the beginning of the month. He was a winner on this track four starts ago in a competitive time and does have the best PB in the field. He is still on the up and should get the room he needs from his preferred wide box draw. Hard to beat with the main danger jumping out of box 3 in Big Time Bernie who as a Class 4 dog has to be respected.

Best Value Bet: Big Time Bruiser (Race 7)
The big boy, Big Time Bruiser could offer some value even though he is a last start winner at Palmerston North. He regularly tops 38kg on the scale and makes his own luck early on in his races. He has winning form on this track which is a bonus for these visiting greyhounds and with the recent import Zipping Bestow likely to set them up early he should be able to camp just off the pace before having the last crack at the red rug in the home straight. The chances don't end there and the run to the first bend will probably decide the result of this race.
