Rockhampton betting preview & quaddie selections | 3/5/23
Rockhampton is set to host 10 races on Wednesday night from 6:52PM local time. The Rockhampton Carnival has come to a close and that is evident going through these fields with no feature races. Plenty of local trainers will be breathing a sigh of relief that the outside raids have stopped and racing can resume as normal.
Best Bet: City Way (Race 4)
City Way doesn't have the most appealing strike rate however, look for him to score his third success tonight. Returning to Rockhampton after a flurry of runs at Ipswich, City Way was brilliant, running second to Walk On Sunshine in 23.46s. Jumping from the stripes, he parked on Walk On Sunshine and appeared to make up good ground over the concluding stages which holds him in good stead now clashing with him over a longer distance. He draws perfectly tonight in the red with two relatively slow beginners outside him. The speed in this race comes from out wide with Atomic Warren, Ninetymile Rock and Walk On Sunshine set to spear across. Expect City Way to find a lovely trailing position and be too strong in the finish.

Next Best: Blue Jeans Talk (Race 8)
Blue Jeans Talk is a rising four-year-old who appears good value in an open race. He was targeted at the 4th/5th grade Dinky Di Web Design 407m series where he was able to win his way through to the final where he had no luck. After jumping on terms from a middle draw, he was squeezed out of proceedings and quickly relegated to the tail. He'll be looking to bounce back off this run and appears to have drawn well to do so. Despite not winning in eight attempts from this box, he is very well drawn tonight with Systems Down inside him who is capable of delivering him a lovely cart into this race. He will hold his line down the back straight and as long as he can miss the possible carnage inside, he will finish strongest here.

Best Value: Saron (Race 9)
Saron hails from the Ken Boody yard and he'll be looking to repay punters who have faith and stick with him after going down as a beaten favourite on cup night. Jumping from box two, he was half a step slow and was subject to a significant check which saw rivals Burnt Me and Creme De Monte shoot along the outside and spear to the front. Saron got to the outside and thundered home but the bird had flown. He has finally drawn where he wants to be in the pink as he's won four from six starts out of the eight. He will get a lovely cart across from Tuesday's Gone drawn inside him who could lead this race. Current favourite, Rybolt returns from Brisbane after claiming a 5th grade series at Albion Park however, appears vulnerable from a middle draw with speed either side of him. Saron is due his fair share of luck and has his paw on the till.
