Rockhampton greyhound tips

Rockhampton is set to host a 11 race program on Wednesday night from 6:56PM local time. The meeting is headlined by the Final for open graded dogs over the 510m. The field is dominated by top leading trainer, Ken Boody who lines up with his brilliant country chaser, Ring Me and Saron. Ring Me will start a dominant favourite and barring bad luck, will walk away with the $10,205 first place prize.

Best Bet: Grand Riku (Race 2)

Much like the first race, this novice race lacks depth and the newcomer Grand Riku will be extremely hard to hold out. The former Victorian runner made his Rockhampton debut last week for local trainer and owner when third behind the speedy Max Gambles. Despite being unable to lead Max Gambles, he showed great speed off the mat and was able to stick with him in the early stages before tiring late. He is sure to take plenty of benefit from the outing and will be much stronger second up. Despite being beaten just under a length by Swerve last start, he should be able to find the front in this race with little speed around him. Admittedly, Swerve is drawn well in box one and will most likely tag him into this race; however, given Grand Riku finds the front this week he will be able to clear away and hold on for a good win.

Next Best: Ninetymile Venom (Race 1)

Moderate maiden to kick off proceedings where Ninetymile won't get a better chance to break his duck. The one-year-old son of x Ninetymile Star was raced by in the early stages of his career. He tasted little success in Brisbane and has been recently transferred to Clinton Thompson in Rockhampton. Since arriving, he has run some cracking races without a whole lot of luck behind Princess Azara and Who's Travis. Both these runners have appeared progressive and have started to work their way through the grades being subsequent winners. Box six isn't ideal however, he lacks any early speed and will likely be toward the rear. He will certainly require luck however, he has an abundance of ability and given a clean run is the most talented dog in this race.

Best Value: Queen Norma (Race 8)

The feature race on the program should be a one act affair with Ring Me set to trounce her rivals. Despite this, something has to run into the placings and that appears to be Queen Norma. The three-year-old daughter of x hasn't raced at this venue for quite some time with most of her recent affairs coming at the 531m and the 710m. The way this race shapes on paper is simply, Ring Me finding the top from the low alley and splitting this field up. Both Velocity Tamika and Saron do their best work on the arm at this trip and with Creme De Monte having her first go at the longer trip she is in the same category. Queen Norma has the benefit of longer runs under her belt and with an inside box vacant can get a trouble free run into the first turn.
