Addington racing preview & NZ best bets | Thursday, 15/6/23
Addington is set to host the Thursday night greyhound meeting with 12 races set to be run and won on June 15. The first race is set to kick off at 4:21pm (NZDT).
Best Bet: Opawa Ryder (Race 11)
The feature sprint of the night for class 5 greyhounds is where we find out best bet in Opawa Ryder who was more than a little disappointing last week. The key today is the switch to a box draw closer to the rails and with the dog to his immediate inside usually a stride slow, he should get all the room he needs to accelerate up the rails in the drive to the first bend. His best form is too good for this field and he should be back atop the winners' dais this evening.

Gitan has burnt punters in two starts since resuming from a spell and on both occasions it has been slow starts that are proving to be her undoing. This greyhound has broken 30 seconds over this distance more than once and with a shorter gap between runs leading into this assignment, she should be nearing her peak fitness. The greyhound to her outside is usually slow early and her kennel mate to her inside should carry her across in the rush to the first corner. If she gets to the front early then she should take them all the way.
Gitan (4)Best Value: Hunch (Race 8)
Hunch has been off the boil in his last two starts after making uncharacteristically slow beginnings. His form earlier last month, when putting together a brace of wins is a much better guide to his ability at the top level and a return to an inside box draw today should also see a return to winning form. Jean and Dave Fahey have the magic touch at the moment and should bag another swag of winners this evening.
