Rockhampton greyhound tips & value bets | Wednesday, August 17
This week, we are back to our standard Wednesday night program at Rockhampton and we have a huge 12 race card to sort through. As the cold nights linger, let us warm your night up with some good bets along with our quaddie selections.
BEST BET: DIXIE GAMBLES (Race 10)
Tonight, we will need to be patient and wait until race 10 for the best bet, that being, the Ken Boody-trained Dixie Gambles (box 1). This daughter of the great Fernando Bale should be short odds but she is classes above this field. She has won 10 races from her 23 career starts and been placed in another 7 occasions. She is eligible for this 5th grade race because she has only started once over this track and distance. She won that race from box one clocking a moderate 24.32 seconds but that was back on March 5. She is currently in sparkling form and should lead all the way tonight. Master her in all up and exotic betting.

NEXT BEST: GURU BART (Race 11)
The Steven Boody-trained Guru Bart (box 4) looks the next best bet on the program. This son of Keybow was our best bet last Tuesday night and we were able to get an early bank when he scored an easy win, beating Double Buck by over five lengths clocking a quick 23.81 seconds. He does show good early speed and has noted slow beginners drawn directly outside of him so he should get clear galloping room early in this race. With the early scratching of White Like Snow, the only danger looks to be the Dallas Beckett-trained Black Delight (box 1). She won last Friday from box five when making her Rockhampton debut, clocking 23.94 seconds. Tonight, she has the advantage of wearing the red rug.

BEST VALUE BET: SAY SOME WORDS (Race 8)
The Darren Taylor-trained Say Some Words (box 8) looks the value bet for the program. This daughter of the great Barcia Bale is owned by Victorian George Farrugia who is well known Australia wide in the greyhound industry. Her last four starts have been at Albion Park. She has run well in all four starts without been able to collect a winning cheque. Tonight, she returns to Rockhampton where she has a good track record – three wins and another six placings from twelve career starts. She should get a good run early out wide on track and looks a good each way bet. Main dangers look to be Zipping Peewee (box 3) who won well last Friday, and Swift Twitch (box 1) who will wear the coveted red rug.
