The Meadows greyhound preview & betting tips | Saturday, July 29
The Meadows will host 12 races on Saturday night from 6:39pm local time. The meeting is headlined by two fifth-grade finals over the 525m which will feature the likes of Stout Monelli, Idolize and El Dorado. Also, Baby Jaycee and Postman Pat will bring plenty of attention in their respective races.
Best Bet: Morton (Race 1)
This one-year-old son of Tommy Shelby made a statement on debut over track and trip, recording a seven-length win at the 525m. Jumping well from box eight, Morton was able to spear across, lead and clock the fastest time of the day in 29.89. He steps up in grade on Saturday, but his debut win is roughly four lengths better than standard for sixth/seventh grade. The speed in the race will come from Silent Bullet in the red, who should hold the rails. Hurricane Mist likes to run wide, which will allow Morton the space to trail the leader. From there, expect this guy to kick into overdrive down the back and topple Silent Bullet in the second half of the race.
Next Best: Tan And Black (Race 3)
Tan And Black built a fair record over the 500m but was often the flashing red light run due to his lack of speed. A step up to the middle distance appeared inevitable and he has relished the trip in two starts, placing on both occasions. He chased hard on his 600m debut and would’ve won with one more stride when second to Minter Frost. Last start, he bumped into one of Victoria’s hottest middle-distance dogs in Succeed, who ran a few lengths outside the track record. Tan And Black appears primed third-up at the distance and will be aided by the low draw.

Next Best Again: Jarick Bale (Race 6)
After an unsuccessful Brisbane campaign, Jarick Bale has recorded half a dozen successful runs at both Sandown and The Meadows. Team Delbridge worked him up to the 730m, where he ran second in a heat of the Group 3 Fireball and then did the same in the final when beaten less than a length by Alfie Moon. Despite being a four-year-old, Jarick Bale is racing in career-best form over this distance and meets a few rivals returning from a big Queensland winter campaign which could leave a few flat.
