The Meadows greyhound tips & best bets for July 23, 2022
Wow She's Fast has drawn the prized red box and will be mighty hard to hold out in the Group One Maturity Classic Final at The Meadows on Saturday night. The $100,000 winners cheque is hers to lose in race eight but are we going to witness something special and see a new champion enter our sights?
Race one starts at 6:27pm with the last race of the night concluding at 10:19pm.
BEST BET: WOW SHE'S FAST (Race 8)
Wow She's Fast is one of the fastest greyhounds in the world and considering she has drawn box one and the greyhound in box two does usually miss it by a length, she really should be getting a clear run and taking over down the back and running away with another group one. What's a good price? We think anything over $1.35 with online bookmakers is a good price. Plaintiff for Jason Thompson has the best early pace in the race and will likely lead so he will be our second tip, while Amron Boy for Brooke Ennis is one of the most exciting greyhounds in the country and we think he can run third.
Best Bet
Race 8 –
Form: 81111 | Career: 18: 13-1-0 | Trainer: Jacqueline Greenough
NEXT BEST: AMBUSHED (Race 12)
For Ned McDonald, Ambushed, a Superior Panama x Sweet It Is dog will appreciate the rails draw and despite not being blessed with early pace he may be able to get underneath them down the back straight. His win at Sandown Park last start was excellent, winning in close to best of the day time over the 515m journey. That was from box two and he was able to reel them in after getting away midfield. We think it might be the same situation here. He will be given them a couple of lengths down the back but he does have strong run home times.
Next Best
Race 2 –
Form: 23241 | Career: 17: 4-3-2 | Trainer: Daniel Gibbons
BEST VALUE: BELLE VIOLIN (Race 10)
He is a slow beginner but Belle Violin is very strong and although we won't be getting big odds, he may get out to respectable odds in what is an open race. He is a consistent dog and when he does get beat, it's usually only by a length or two so we think he's just about assured to run top three given how strong he is and if he uses his consistent traits. Red Reactor for Daniel Pell is the likely favourite and leader and we think these two classy greyhounds will be fighting it out for the win.
