Wentworth Park betting preview, best bets & odds | Saturday 3/6/23
Winter may have abruptly arrived in Sydney, but you can be guaranteed that the greyhound action will be red-hot at Wentworth Park this Saturday night. There are 10 quality races set down for decision, with the final of the Temora to Wenty series being the headliner. A nice series for restricted-class chasers will have its heats, along with a top quality non-graded race. All the action kicks off at 6:07pm Sydney time and, as always, we will try to find you a winner or two.
Best Bet: Chance Model (Race 10)
This boy is another one of the Champion Model breed that has been so prolific in recent years. Chance Model has only had the 10 career starts for five wins and a couple of placings and is two wins and two placings from four goes at Wentworth Park. He has been sparingly raced after contesting the New Sensation heats back at Easter and having a crack at the Nowra Puppy Classic. He showed exactly what the breed can do here in heats a few weeks back, nailing the start and racing away in very good time. Last start he just got held up at a crucial time when trying to go to the lead; that gave Screaming Jet the chance to go paw-to-paw with him, and he was very gallant in defeat. Chance Model is perfectly drawn in box one in this race and looks the natural leader, and it will take an enormous performance from the rest of the field to run him down.
Danger: Blue Boy Kade
It’s either rocks or diamonds for this boy, who has a ton of untapped potential. When he is on, he will lead and run you the best time of the night. When he is not on, he will often go away without a whimper. Having said that, his record of 14 races for only five wins and no placings suggests if he gets out to silly odds, he might be worth a ticket.

Next Best: My Bandit (Race 1)
This son of Fernando Bale and Kasreyn looked like he was going to zoom around them and be off and gone here on debut a month ago before being brought down in what looked an awkward fall. However, to the credit of the best kennel in NSW, the Lords had him ready for a tilt at Goulburn a fortnight later and he began well enough to spear through and lead. He also ran the best time of the day there, which is a good effort for a maiden. He has trialled nicely here, and while box five is awkward, if he shows pace like he did at Goulburn, he will be leading and breaking the 30-second mark. He has to break our curse of winning a maiden and then backing up to win a fifth-grade race against more seasoned dogs the very next start. However, he is the dog with the biggest upside and the brightest future in this race — and if he doesn’t win, blackbook him, because you will win plenty following this lad.
Danger: Mork Vision
Still yet to win here in five goes but has been knocking on the door, and if consistency and effort is to be rewarded, then this boy deserves to salute for Carole Eaton. He has the pace to lead this race from out wide, and if he can find some improvement on the clock, then there is no reason he can’t lead all the way.

Best Value: Lithgow Road (Race 8)
This daughter of Zipping Garth and Rosa Rebel has really been putting it together of late. She has won five of her last eight races and has been near faultless since coming back from a long break at the end of last year. We managed to put the curse on her last week, but that will only make her better value in this race. Paul Roach has progressed her through the grades and distances perfectly and has been rewarded with three in a row in town. She just knuckled over at the start last time, which can happen at Wentworth Park off box one if the dog steps off the artificial turf to the side of the box. She will be much better out in box seven, where she is two wins from two attempts, and should get nice cover when Nando Banner heads to the fence. While it is a distinctive step up in class taking on the non-graders, the juicy each-way odds are impossible to ignore.
