Wentworth Park Saturday tips & quaddie picks | July 15, 2023
After two quality Group 1 finals last weekend, this Saturday’s greyhound racing at Wentworth Park should be almost as good. A quality free-for-all and a very classy fourth-and-fifth-grade race are the standouts, while there are also some exciting greyhounds in the fifth-grade and restricted-class races. As always, Australian Racing Greyhound will try to help you find a few winners.
Best Bet: Modern Swinger (Race 7)
Modern Swinger has been racing the best of the best recently and last start went to Dapto to take on the champion She’s A Pearl in the Silver Collar. It was a great race and Modern Swinger was able to keep the champ at bay and hold on for a remarkable victory. This guy has eight wins from 15 starts at Wenty with three minor placings. He loves an inside draw, winning five from nine from the inside three boxes. He should get some room to move with moderate beginners either side of him. If he can knock off the champ, then he is good enough to win this. Keep Zipping Kansas safe, as he has a flying personal-best of 29.4.

Next Best Bet: Tarawi Tiger (Race 5)
This boy was gallant in defeat when chasing Zipping Remus in the Group 1 Vic Peters Classic last Saturday night. He was beaten by eight lengths in the end but didn’t have a clear run in the early stages from the awkward draw (6) and the run was super. The Tiger goes from collecting $15k in the Group 1, back into a $6k fifth-grade race. He loves an inside draw and will be very happy down near the fence, especially with a moderate beginner underneath him. With the big night in the rear-vision mirror, there is no reason Tarawi Tiger won’t bounce straight back into the winner’s circle.

Best Value Bet: Coco Model (Race 8)
Coco Model almost pinched the race last Saturday night when she did what she does: ping the lids and clear out in front. She just couldn’t hold off a seriously strong dog in the form of Fat Boy’s Charm, going under by a nose – and in good time. You know what you will get with this girl; she will run you about 29.9, and if that isn’t good enough to win, she will go down swinging. Four Five will head to the fence, which will help, but Coco Model does meet a couple of strong smart ones in Zambora Tiger and Showman Jack. Those two will no doubt have supporters, which should make the out-and-out leader tremendous value.
