Wentworth Park racing tips

With the finals of the 2 Oaks and Derby taking the spotlight on night, the provincial meeting for Wentworth Park will this week be held on Wednesday night. There will be 11 races on the program and the first will commence at 6:58pm Sydney time. As always, Australian Racing Greyhound has done the form in the hope of finding you a winner or three.

Race 8: Good Odds Cobber (4)

After an unsuccessful tilt at the Group 2 Bulli Gold Cup and the Group 2 , Good Odds Cobber drops back into this mixed-grade affair. He is clearly the class runner in this field, and his last start at headquarters was in the Derby final when he fell as favourite. In the heats of that race, he ran a 29.33. He has won all his other races at Wenty and has never had box four in his career. The vacant box five will be a tremendous help, and this race should be little more than a tune-up on his way to the Easter Egg carnival.

Race 7: Zipping Megatron (1)

Having run fifth in the final, Zipping Megatron will relish this drop back to fifth grade. He loves box one, winning both of his starts in the red rug, and has four wins and a second from his five Wentworth Park appearances. He won't have things all his own way with the talented Canya Love Me and Midnight Spritz in the race. Yet with a personal best of 29.42 from this box, if he goes anywhere near that, he will destroy this field. Zipping Megatron will be aimed at the Golden Easter Egg in the coming weeks, and this looks a perfect lead-up race.

Race 10: Leonidas (3)

This boy was impressive when winning last start in 16.11 after beginning only fairly from an awkward draw. He would perhaps prefer to be drawn off the track a little, with his best performances coming from the outside three boxes, but this might only add to his value. That win was his first look at Wentworth Park, so expect some improvement. Leonidas has two moderate beginners drawn under him, and if he nails the start, he will be hard to beat. His biggest danger will be the reserve dog From The East, should it get a start.
