Cash Master pays out with Grafton Million Dollar Chase victory
Cash Master served up an all-the-way effort to take out the Million Dollar Chase Regional Final at Grafton on Sunday after running the fastest heat time last week.
The Robert Cooke-trained dog entered the 450m final as a slight race favourite at -105.26, with the Selena Zammit-trained Jay Is Jay drawing consistent support at +100.
With a great start from box three, Cash Master took the lead with Villante (+3000) and Albert’s Memory (+2000) in pursuit as they turned the corner.
Heading into the straight, Cash Master got out to a four-length lead with Villante continuing to chase as they approached the post.
But Cooke’s chaser ran home strongly to win by five lengths in a personal-best 25.06, with Albert’s Memory and Villante filling out the places.

The winning time comes close to the track record over the trip at 25.01, set in September two years ago by Cash Master’s half-brother Cash View.
Both dogs are out of the same dam, Cashpot, who raced 16 times for one win and eight minor placings.
In his previous start, on September 17, Cash Master won his MDC heat while defeating Queensland-based Super Shanks and Vigne Unleashed to qualify fastest in 25.08.
He has shown immense ability on the big stage, having taken out the QGOLD Emerging Sprinters Final over the Albion Park 520m trip last year and the Grafton Cup Final on May 7 this year.
He will now head to the Million Dollar Chase semi-finals at Wentworth Park on October 6 along with placegetters Albert’s Memory and Villante.
The MDC race series now moves on with the last two regional finals at Nowra on Monday, and Gosford on Tuesday.
