Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club to reinstate 390m start

's 385m drop-in boxes in action.

The Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club () and Greyhound (GRV) have jointly announced the reinstatement of the 390 metre start, at the Shepparton greyhound track, effective from Tuesday, September 26, 2023.

The first race from this reinstated ‘old' fixed box distance will take place on Tuesday, September 26.

In an effort to improve injury rates and reduce interference at the venue, the introduction of drop-in boxes for the 385 metre distance was accompanied by changes as part of a trial.

However, after considering feedback from participants and the club, GRV has decided to revert to the fixed 390 metre start.

This change alone will be assessed for its impact on interference, injury rates, and track preparation.

The Tier 3 time standard for Sheppartons 390 metre distance will be reinstated at 22.50 seconds.

GRV stated that their priority is to provide participants with the best racing surface while ensuring greyhound safety.

They believe that going back to the fixed 390m start may the way to achieve these goals.
