Cyndie’s Cyndie upsets favourite to win Albion Park’s Listed Mick Byrne Memorial

Cyndie's Cyndie improved half a second to lead all the way in the 2023 at on night.

Cyndie's Cyndie served up a run to take out the Mick Byrne Memorial Final at Albion Park on Friday night while smashing her own personal best time.

Greyhound betting apps had priced the -trained bitch as an outisder at +1400 odds to win the 2023 Listed Mick Byrne Memorial, but she delivered against the +160 race favourite, , to take out the $24,000 contest.

Last week Icy Eyes, trained by Selena Zammit, won her heat by 5.25 lengths, clocking the best time of the night with a speedy 29.87 second win.

Cyndie's Cyndie also won her heat by 0.75 lengths in a time of 30.56, as one of the Elson clan's three finalists.

At box rise, the daughter of Dyna Double One and Cyndie's Magic got out cleanly from the blue box to hit the lead and gave nothing else a chance to take the victory.

(+450), trained by Peter Evans, ran on in second for the entire 520m trip but faded late to finish third.

The -trained race favourite Icy Eyes was in third spot early, and ‘ate up' ground late to finish runner-up, 0.13 lengths behind the winner.

In winning the listed final, Cyndie's Cyndie broke the clock beating her previous personal best 30.52 over the trip by almost half a second, crossing the line in 30.05, to take the $16,000 first prize.
