Dolly Dutton wins Brisbane Young Guns
Dolly Dutton tackles Bears Bullet on the straight to win the Brisbane Young Guns final on Thursday night.

Dolly Dutton showed her grit and why she had heavy backing heading into the Group 3 Brisbane Young Guns Final on Thursday night.

Sitting second last out of the boxes Dolly Dutton ($2.60 with betting sites) pulled herself off the canvas to take the feature at Albion Park, making it eight victories from 14 starts.

Last week the Andrew Monaghan-trained bitch ran second by a length to Isurava in their heat when jumping from box one.

The Barcia Bale x Precious Sal chaser’s record speaks for itself, with seven of her eight career wins coming out of either the inside or outside boxes.

Bear’s Bullet got out to lead in the Young Guns final with Dolly Dutton in hot pursuit on the bend, before passing and extending to win by 2.25L.

The Travis Elson-trained Bear’s Bullet finished second with Locked on Scotch out of the John Catton kennel in third.

The winner of his Young Guns Heat, Cobblepot, finished fourth and trainer Stephen Rolph commented on the performance.

“He Just couldn’t clear them early, which he had to do to win.

“The four (Bear’s Bullet) was annoying him early down the straight.

“All in all, it was a pass run.

“He’ll have a quiet 10 days and freshen up for the QDog Blitz Heat’s Sunday week over 331m.”

Another Chance, Blue Hornet, Magistrate and Isurava followed the leader’s home.

“As expected, there was a lot of early speed and he was caught in the middle of it,” Isurava’s trainer Brent Kline said.

“That’s racing though and it just wasn’t our night.

“Dolly Dutton was boxed well and she used the rail to perfection.

“With Jezza (Isurava) we are targeting the QGold 600 race on Thursday night.

“Fingers crossed we draw near the rail and begin well.”

He along with this class of quality chasers will now feature in the QGold Winter series throughout the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival which has just received a healthy prize money increase.
