Ethanol Water sends warning with Galaxy prelude triumph
Ethanol Water has put the Group 1 Galaxy contenders on notice with a stunning come-from-behind victory in the Galaxy prelude at Cannington, storming home to win by a commanding nine-and-a-quarter lengths in 41.66 seconds.
Despite missing the start, the Thomas Dailly-trained stayer showed why she remains one of the most dangerous greyhounds in the staying ranks, powering past her rivals with ease as the $2.50 bookmaker favourite.

The dominant display was a timely return to form for Ethanol Water, who was the beaten favourite in the Group 1 Fanta Bale Stayers Final at The Meadows just a fortnight ago.
Sent out as the pick, she encountered trouble early and never recovered, finishing fifth behind Unreal Speed.
That loss raised concerns about her ability to handle top-tier competition when giving away too much ground at the start, and while her performance in the Galaxy Prelude was outstanding, she will need to address her box manners if she is to go all the way in the $100,000 to the winner final.
Her dazzling win didn’t go unnoticed by bookmakers, with her odds for the Galaxy slashed from $7 into , making her the second favourite behind Fanta Bale Stayers champ Unreal Speed ($4).
A multiple Group 1 winner, she already has victories in the Bold Trease at Sandown and the Gold Cup at Albion Park to her name, with her signature mid-race acceleration often leaving her opposition flat-footed.
With the Galaxy Heats set for Saturday, March 8, her prelude win was a warning shot to her rivals—if she puts it all together on the big stage, Ethanol Water will be incredibly hard to hold out with the betting site odds likely to decrease.
