Fancy A Scotch wins Lady Trainers final at Ipswich
Fancy A Scotch stepped out for his 40th career start and served up a come-from-behind win to take the Lady Trainers Final at Ipswich on Saturday night.
Trained by Kerri-Lyn Harkness out of Park Ridge, the dog lined up in the 520m fifth grade as a +120 favourite with greyhound betting sites.
Give Me Donuts (+1600) sped out to the front soon after box rise to lead heading into the first bend, with Mitchell’s Lass, who was +600 in second.
Turning the corner, the leader swung out wide and gave Mitchell’s Lass the clear passage to take the lead, heading into the home straight.
But Fancy A Scotch swept to the front and took the win, beating home Magical Gunn (+900) by 3.25 lengths in 31.02, with Mitchell’s Lass finishing up back in third place.

The win marked the first time saluting over the trip for Fancy A Scotch, with the chaser having run the 520m journey on 11 previous occasions for five minor placings.
It was career win number 13 for trainer Harkness, who began training last year and has prepared 58 runners.
From a kennel of just three greyhounds, Fancy A Scotch has been the most successful.
Master Distiller, his half-brother by sire Hooked On Scotch, has five wins and five minor placings, while the third kennel-mate is a Mepunga Blazer and Heaven Rocks dog named Ed Wood Bamboo, who debuted last Thursday running fourth in an eight-dog field.
Fancy A Scotch debuted in October last year, saluting over the 395m trip at Albion Park, and has gone on to race at all three south-east Queensland tracks: Capalaba, Albion Park, and Ipswich
The Hooked On Scotch x Bonne Chance dog has eight wins and 12 placings from 40 career starts and $49,215 in prizemoney banked.
