Five Pens reversed the heat result when he finished second behind Lee's Surprise in a quick 18.37s, but on Saturday the Don Ronneberg-trained sprinter made every post a winner.

Five Pens is owned by Wayne and Barbara Coustley. That same combination had a memorable day landing a double when ($6.00) defied all attempts to run her down in the Outwest Pumps and Irrigation Stakes (400m) last race to score in 23.65s. Baroda Pearl is also trained by Don Ronneberg.

Les Leonard had ‘' on his side on Saturday when Yantarra Sam ($2.00 fav) took out an innocent Maiden 400m event. Going into the race Yantarra Sam was drawn as the jackpot dog which had risen to $500. A good line-up faced the starter for the best eight 5th grade Free Choice West Dubbo Stakes event over the 516m journey. In-form sprinter Fresh Fantasy ($1.80 fav) began fast from the red box to lead clearly and race away to a 30.45s victory. The winner is trained locally by Rod Kennedy. Miss Skaife ($4.40) and ($3.80) both tried hard and wins are not too far away for both in the weeks ahead.

Cathy Baker was all smiles after $2.50 fav) bounced back to his best form leading all the way from the six box to score by 5.75 lengths in 18.53s.

Charmaine Roberts-trained top-flight flyer Freeman Keeping ($1.50 fav) registered win number 22 when proving a tad too classy for fast-finishing Lethal Grin ($3.40) and ($3/40) in a handy 18.37s.

Mudgee mentor Alf Vella was back in the winner's circle after breaking his “duck “ last Saturday when ($4.00) displayed plenty of field sense to sit just behind the speedy Yantarra Betty in the run to the first bend before racing away to a good 18.41s victory.

($3.20) made the trip from Orange more than worth while for regular visitor to Dubbo Brad O'Neill when she took out the Maiden 516m event on the card in the time of 31.26s.
