GAP Queensland celebrates adoption month with even at Albion Park

Greyhounds As Pets adoption program
The Program (GAP) in Queensland is excited to share that they are on track for their biggest year yet having already found homes for over 335 greyhounds this year.

To mark Greyhound Adoption Month, GAP Queensland is hosting an event called Homeward Hounds on April 20th at Raceway.

The event will have a lineup of activities, including a Speedy Paws Parade featuring greyhounds adopted through GAP and a session called Fast Facts and Furtastic Insights where participants can chat with GAP's expert veterinarian.

Prospective adopters will have the chance to meet and with greyhounds, ask questions about the adoption process, and gain insights into greyhound behaviour and care.

“Adoption Month is our feature time to showcase this amazing breed, and we encourage everyone to support us and spread the word, as the more foster carers and adoptions we get, the more space we have available for industry participants looking to place their retired racers into GAP for rehoming,” shared Lisa Kohler, rehoming manager at GAP Queensland.

GAP Queensland remains dedicated, to ensuring that each greyhound finds its match in terms of both owner and living environment.

All greyhounds at GAP go through health and behaviour evaluations and receive medical care like desexing, worming, microchipping, and vaccinations before they are ready for adoption.

The GAP team offers guidance and assistance throughout the adoption or fostering process. If you're interested in welcoming a greyhound into your home, you can submit an application on the GAP Queensland website.

Moreover, during the Homeward Hounds event, there will be a variety of dogs that can be adopted immediately after an introduction and home evaluation.

GAP Queensland operates under the Queensland Commission and plays a pivotal role in their Animal Care program.

Retired racing greyhounds are companions known for their loving demeanour.

Come join GAP Queensland at Albion Park Raceway on April 20th between 10 am to 1 pm for a day of greyhound activities, learning opportunities, and the chance to meet your furry friend.

RSVP to secure your spot at this gathering.
