Group 1 National Sprint Championship: 2024 final, odds, box draw

The final field and box draw for the 2024 Group 1 National Sprint Championship have been decided, with the Queensland representative drawing the prized red box, but online bookmakers have made the two WA finalists the favourites to win this year’s final.

Queensland National Sprint representative Cluster came up with the much-sought-after inside box draw for the final, with greyhound betting sites installing the -trained greyhound as a +400 chance on the third line of betting.

Cluster, who is yet to be placed in a Group race final, has had nine starts from box one for four wins and two placings.

On August 15, Cluster managed a 30.75 first look while solo-trialling at Angle Park between races, and it was obvious that the run would benefit him.

The 2024 SA National Sprint Champion and local favourite, Chapel Road, has drawn box two for young SA trainer Kiah Hurley.

Chapel Road has never won from box two, despite having a good record of eight starts for four wins and three placings from box one.

Having run six career placings from box two, Chapel Road is looking to create history by winning the 2024 Group 3 – Group 1 National Sprint Championship double.

Chapel Road, who has a best of 30.49 at Angle Park, has been placed on the fifth line of betting for the final on greyhound betting apps

WA representative, Miss Envy, has drawn box three for the Group 1 National Sprint Championship final, and greyhound bookmakers have been quick to make her this year’s race favourite after a cracking first look at the Adelaide track.

In a light 11-start race career, Miss Envy has drawn box three twice for one placing.

The Krystal Shinners-trained youngster could not have been more impressive at her first look at Angle Park on Thursday night, August 15, solo trialling in 30.24 between races.

The trial was so impressive that greyhound bookmakers have posted Miss Envy as the +220 favourite to win this year’s National Sprint.

Uncle Tommy finished sixth behind the WA National Sprint Champion, Miss Envy, but is a dual Group 1 winning greyhound, having won the 2024 Group 1 and 2024 Group 1 Perth Cup.

Uncle Tommy will need to contend with box five in the race, where he has had five starts for a win and two placings.

Uncle Tommy is scheduled to trial between races at Angle Park on Monday night, August 19, but bookmakers have kept Uncle Tommy very safe in greyhound betting ahead of the trial, making him the +360 second favourite behind Miss Envy.
