High Earner’s Prizemoney Total Heading To $138,000

In the same week close blood relation El Galo has officially been retired to stud a little over $10,000 short of the $530,995 Australian Prizemoney Record held by Rapid Journey; early Imagetec Gold Coast Cup favourite High Earner will have his shot this Thursday night at a fourth Group Two win to take his prizemoney earnings to nearly $140,000.

The Queensland Derby and West Derby winner will line up in box eight in the Imagetec Gold Coast Cup at Albion Park and has lead the betting at 3-1 since qualifying in last Thursday night’s heats.

The Group Two Gold Coast Cup is worth $38,000 in total prizemoney, including a $25,000 winner’s .

The Christine Robartson-trained performer dominated his field last Thursday to win in a smart time of 30.20 from box two.

However, High Earner will need to be on his game with proven Melbourne speedster drawing a favourable box two.

Velocette was the third fastest heat of the night in the windy conditions, running in 30.18 with onlookers giving it the title of the ‘run of the night’.

Another sure to be up in the final three is Dashing Corsair, who was the fastest qualifier of the heats in 30.07, and who was a finalist in both the Qld Debry and alongside High Earner.

Jumping from box five will make it more difficult for Dashing Corsair, with consistent Melbourne dog on his inside in box four, and High Earner who is sure to come across from out wide quickly.

Trew Millions ran second behind High Earner in his heat by only three quarters of a length, and is sure to be competitive again in the Gold Coast Cup.

Another to keep an eye on is Cosmic Rumble in box one, who showed blistering early speed to win his heat, clocking a 5.72 first sectional.

The Brisbane track is one which Cosmic Rumble has taken a liking to, placing in the top three in every start at Albion Park, and had the crowd in awe in May this year when he ran down High Earner in the last 100m in the Classic.

The race card on Thursday night will also be celebrated with a fifth grade feature for bitches in memory of the great greyhound race caller Mick Cox.

It will be a tough race for punters with several up and coming btiches taking to the track, but it is expected that Sexy Sal from box seven should create some interest in the betting ring.

Sexy Sal, trained by Ron Ball, was extremely impressive last Wednesday week at Albion Park when she won from the same box in a 396m in a very quick time of 22.84.

In box one, River Seine will be another strong competitor coming off the back of a strong third to Gidgee Glider, and leading the pack at the start, recording a 5.72 first sectional.

Gidgee Glider will also line up in this field in box three and shows solid form including four wins and three placings at the track.

Next to her in box four and five is the quickest proven greyhounds over the 520m at Albion Park, with Gypsy Force who boasts a best time of 30.36 including three wins from five starts, and Princess Kero who comes off the back of a best time last week of 30.35.

Another race to watch on Thursday night is the fourth and fifth grade Garrards 520m (Race Four).

Group One Hawkins Media Solutions winner Boozeroo will have her first start in Brisbane, in preparation for the upcoming Group One Garrards Winter Carnival Cup.

It is understood Boozeroo is yet to trial in Brisbane but is sure to start the race favourite considering her impressive run in the Laurels at Park, where she clocked in at 29.74 to take the $74,000 race.

However, track experience will also be on hand in this race with top Brisbane performers in box one, and emerging speedster Rylee’s Rockin in box eight.

Andy Albion’s Best Bets:

  • Race 3 Number 4
  • Race 5 Number 2 Uno Play Boy
  • Race 6 Number 7 Sexy Sal
  • Race 9 Number 4 Hot Dessa
  • Race 10 Number 6 Bogie Bomber

Meanwhile, it is understood El Galo will be standing stud at Jason Thompson’s Awesome Lodge and his stud fee will be intially set at $2,750.

And yet again it would seem that even El Galo’s stud career is set to be beseiged by controversy, as breeders revolt against the high debut stud fee. El Galo’s current fee is actually $550 more than current stud fee of Australia’s leading greyhound sire Collision.
