Hobart Thousand final box draw: Inconspicuous secures box one
The final field for the 2024 Group 1 Hobart Thousand has been set, with the all-important box draw taking place during the Tasmanian Greyhound Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Ladbrokes Park Elwick.
Hotel Whisky One, who recorded the fastest heat at 25.54 seconds, has drawn the unfortunate box 6. A potentially tricky position, but his blistering early speed and recent Goulburn Cup triumph makes him a standout contender.
The coveted inside draw went to Inconspicuous, who delivered a gutsy heat win in 25.60 seconds. Starting from box one should enhance his chances as he seeks to claim one of Australian greyhound racing’s most prestigious titles.
Heat two winner Ducati Roy lines up in box three, while Tasmania’s Aston Smokey, who prevailed in heat three, takes box four.
Heat five’s upset victor, Trefusis, has drawn the challenging box five, and the Group 1 Brisbane Cup winner, Flying Zulu, will launch his campaign from box seven after his commanding 25.65-second heat victory.
Rounding out the field are heat six winner Serial Sticker, who starts from box eight, and fastest runner-up Bernie Burrow, who will emerge from box two.
