Imagetec Secure Gold Coast Cup Sponsorship Rights
Australia's largest independent printing and office supplies company, Imagetec has signed as a major sponsor of the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club.
The iconic race is temporarily being hosted by the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club while Greyhounds Queensland Limited investigate new racetrack possibilities after the Parklands track was resumed by State Government in July last year to make way for a $1.5 billion hospital facility.
The Gold Coast Cup will now form part of the Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club's 2009 Sky Channel Winter Chasing Carnival that will run from May 28 to July 23 this year.
Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club general manager Luke Gatehouse said the signing was a major step in sustaining greyhound racing in Queensland.
“Imagetec's commitment to the Gold Coast Cup is a great boost for the Queensland greyhound racing industry and in sustaining the future of this race, which is a key date not only in Queensland but on the national racing Calendar,” said Mr Gatehouse.
“Queensland is continuing to produce some of Australia's champion greyhounds and being able to offer the trainers and owners decent prize money for Group races is largely thanks to sponsors such as Imagetec.”
Formerly known as Danka, Imagetec is continuing to grow for parent company Onesource Group despite the current economic climate.
Imagetec Sales Manager Shane Farely said the decision to sponsor the Gold Coast Cup was a combination of the company's interest in the industry and exposure for the company's brand.
“It is the perfect way for our company to give something back to a large industry, and to expose our growing business in the independent office equipment market,” Mr Farley said.
“We actually have a long running relationship with the Brisbane Club and have held several functions at the dogs and we have always had a great time.
