Jungle Johnny runs 4th fastest Wentworth Park time in 29.16
Jungle Johnny delivered a sensational performance at Wentworth Park on Saturday, February 15, recording the fourth fastest time ever over 520m with a scorching 29.16 run.
Trained by Mark Gatt and owned by John Maroun, the black son of Jungle Deuce and Springvale Carla showed why he is one of the most exciting young greyhounds in the country.
Despite not jumping brilliantly, Jungle Johnny displayed superb track sense, railing underneath early leader Sinaloa Girl at the first turn before exploding clear.
As a $2.15 bookmaker favourite, he charged home to score by an emphatic eight and a quarter lengths over Sinaloa Girl, with Laura Keeping finishing third.
Jungle Johnny’s 29.16 victory was a career-best and significantly faster than his previous best of 29.46 at the same track.
His sectionals of 5.46, 17.66, and a blistering 11.50 run home confirmed his dominance and raw speed.

A winner at his 600m debut at Dapto in near-record time, Jungle Johnny is now a strong contender for the $100,000-to-the-winner Ladbrokes Country Classic at Dubbo over 605m on March 22.
Owner John Maroun expressed confidence in trainer Mark Gatt’s decision-making, stating that Gatt has full control over the rising star’s racing future.
Having been purchased as a puppy for just $3,000, Jungle Johnny has proven to be a remarkable investment.
His development under Gatt’s training has been extraordinary, and he now looms as a serious threat in upcoming major events.
Currently, he shares favouritism at for the Dubbo Country Classic and is listed at for the prestigious Wentworth Park Golden Easter Egg.
