Lord’s triple treat in Group 3 Summer Six-Hundy Final at Gosford
With four runners engaged in last night's inaugural running of the G3 Ladbrokes Summer Six-Hundy final at Gosford, it was hard to see any other runner claiming the prize, given their outstanding run of form, however punters sent out Lochinvar Lona from box seven as the $4.00 favourite, in a fairly evenly spread market.
At box rise, there was plenty of jostling for the front, with Coast Model stepping cleanly from box four to take up the early lead, with kennel-mate Grim Madara crossing from outside to take up running in second position. Lochinvar Lona sat in third, with eventual winner Punter's Bandit a significant distance from the leader. Entering the home straight, there was a four-way go for victory, with the recent G2 Gosford Cup winner storming down the outside in the home straight to score by three quarters of a length over Grima Madara, with Coast Model just another quarter of a length away in third. It topped off an incredible month for the daughter of Good Odds Harada and Book Of Luck who won Gosford's richest group racing event just one month ago over the 515m for successful Team Lord and Punters HQ partnership. It was the 2kg chaser's 11th career victory from just 29 starts, with no doubt connections will be hoping her purple patch of form continues into next Saturday's G1 Rookie Rebel invitational, where she will start from box 8.
Jodie and Andy Lord enjoyed a wealth of success in the supporting events on the program, with She's A Pearl carving out a slick 29.11 victory in the Queen Of The Coast Final off the back of her recent G1 Paws Of Thunder victory, while Canya Smoke Them was ultra-impressive in his debut over the middle distance, landing on the bunny early on to stop the clock in 34.37 for the 603m journey.
