In an awaited face-off , the Victorian greyhound is on the brink of creating history by trying to be the first Victorian greyhound to win the prestigious Group 1 Golden Easter Egg (520m) since 2018.

Recently taken under the wing of New South Wales connections, Mackenna has displayed skill with 11 wins in 16 races, including two back-to-back victories under caretaker trainer Michelle Sultana.

Mackenna had an incredible debut in the Golden Easter Egg series on March 30 when she clinched a heat win with a time of 29.20 seconds, marking it as the second fastest time ever recorded at Wentworth Park.

Despite facing a delay for the semi-finals due to track damage, Mackenna remained undaunted.

She once again showed her dominance by setting a new standard with a swift victory in 29.29 seconds.

With anticipation mounting, Mackenna is currently favoured at $1.95 by the leading greyhound bookmakers.

Mackenna is set to start from Box 2, with local rivals Zipping Megatron ($4.80) and ($6) presenting competition from her outside.

Mackenna's exceptional performance puts her in prime position to be the one to watch.

Following Mackenna's triumph in the semi-finals, Sultana expressed relief and appreciation.

The unexpected delay turned out to be a blessing, in disguise giving Mackenna a at over 400 meters, where she impressed everyone with her speed, clocking in at 21.88 seconds.

Alongside this event, Wentworth Park will also hold the Group 1 Association Cup (720m) for long-distance runners starting at 8:18 pm featuring a showdown between greyhounds from Victoria and star contenders from Queensland and New South Wales.

One of the contenders is Al's Entity ($7.50) who was brought under the guidance of trainer Darryl Thomas by Victorian trainer , much like Mackenna.

Following a heat win week with a time of 42.26 seconds – one length behind the fastest heat winner – Al's Entity is primed for further improvement heading into the final according to Thomas.
