Wentworth Park’s Golden Easter Egg meeting called off – rescheduled

Simply limelight new sensation heats - Wednesday, April 3

The anticipated Golden Easter Egg greyhound race meeting at Wentworth Park set for Saturday, April 6, 2024, has been called off due to rainfall and unfavourable weather forecasts.

The meeting was to have held the semi-finals of the 2024 Group 1 Golden Easter Egg, and the heats of the 2024 Group 1 Association Cup.

The announcement follows Friday’s cancellation of the Wentworth Park meeting that was to have held the heats of the 2024 Listed Ultra Sense, and the 2024 GRNSW Masters.

The latest decision came after a track inspection on Friday morning revealed the need for maintenance work on the track racing surface.

With weather conditions and participants traveling long distances, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) decided to prioritise everyone’s well being by making an early announcement to abandon the Easter Egg semi final night.

The affected race meetings are to be rescheduled for Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.

The need to reschedule the feature races will see the Golden Easter Egg final pushed back to April 20.

Fresh nominations will be called for the heats of the Listed Ultra Sense and GRNSW Masters events that were originally planned for Friday but now moved to April 12.

On April 13, the four semi-finals of the Golden Easter Egg already drawn will proceed as scheduled.

However, new nominations are required for the heats of the 2024 Group 1 Association Cup.

The 2024 Group 3 Magic Maiden and 2024 Group 3 New Sensation finals will remain on April 13.

Additionally, due to weather conditions, the race meetings at The Gardens on Friday and the meetings at Muswellbrook and Potts Park on Saturday, have also been called off.
