Mark Sure Can sets new PB in QGOLD heats at Rockhampton
Mark Sure Can maintained his perfect record over the Rockhampton 407m trip with a win in the QGOLD heats on Wednesday night.
The Christine Pollard-trained chaser went into the open contest as a -125 race favourite with greyhound betting sites.
Jumping out of box three, he took the lead early and held it for the entire trip despite a late challenge from White Like Snow (+260), while Crème De Monte (+1300) ran third.
QGOLD Heat 1 – Mark Sure Can (23.42) – T: Christine Pollard
The 23.42 winning time slashed his previous best of 23.52, set on September 6 when beating Rosa’s Legend by three lengths over the track and trip.
The Slick x Sure You Can dog has seven wins and one runner-up placing from nine career starts and has banked $17,030 in prize money.
The other heat was won by the Ken Boody-trained Pitter Patter (+700), who used the inside draw to produce an all-the-way effort.
Jumping from the two box, he dictated terms for the majority of the trip before Guru Bart (+1600) served up a huge challenge only to finish runner-up by 0.13 of a length.
More Peaches ran third as a -250 favourite, while the winner stopped the clock in 23.67.
QGOLD Heat 2 – Pitter Patter (23.67) – T: Ken Boody

With the QGOLD Final to be run on September 27, Pitter Patter will line up in his 40th career start.
