Imposing Blade cuts down hot favourite at Capalaba
Imposing Blade landed a great upset when taking down the short-priced Magistrate at Capalaba on Wednesday.
The Robynne Black-trained chaser lined up as a +650 prospect with the top greyhound bookmakers, while Greg Stella's race favourite was paying just -666.67.
Magistrate was back at Capalaba following his last-start triumph in the Million Dollar Chase Regional Final at Casino on September 14.
Jumping from the blue box in the Capalaba 366m mixed-grade contest, Imposing Blade got out to sit second behind Jimary Texas (+2500) soon after box rise.
Imposing Blade moved up to hit the front with the finish line in sight, while Magistrate came up to throw down the challenge.
But the leader would hold off that challenge to win by 0.13 of a length, with Sixty Plus (+3300) running third.

Trainer Black was impressed with the performance from her chaser, who clocked 19.93.
“That win was huge,” she said.
“Blade wins against an unbeatable dog.
“I was worried about him yesterday.
“I know he will give all of himself and with faster dogs in the race I knew he would pull out all the stops to try to win.
“He's not the fastest dog but he has the heart of a lion, and he runs a clean race – what more could you ask for?
“He is like his grandmother; he gives 110% every start.”
His grandmother, Imposing Jett, finished her racing career with 22 wins from 36 starts, including the 2011 Group 2 Bogie Leigh Futurity at Albion Park.
Imposing Blade now has six wins from 24 career starts, with all of his victories coming at the Capalaba 366m trip.
