Miata Cruises To Second Group Glory At The Meadows
Champion chaser Miata further enhanced her reputation as one of the best stayers Australia has seen after a devastating win in the Group 3 Topcat Video Cup over 725 metres at The Meadows on
Saturday night.
Sent to the boxes as $1.30 favourite, the daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and Winsome Bluebird settled in a forward position before unleashing an amazing turn of speed, toying with her rivals to
score by eight lengths in 42.56 over nemesis Irma Bale ($4.80), who recorded super splits of 4.87, 15.95 and 29.71 before being outclassed by the champ. Outsider Double Jeopardy ($38.80) ran
third.
The victory was Miata’s 30th from just 37 starts, pushing her prizemoney to $438,508, edging closer to the magical half million dollar prizemoney level – a feat only six Australian greyhounds havebeen able to achieve to date.
The group win was Miata’s second at The Meadows, also taking out the Group 2 Zoom Top in a sizzling 42.37 back in February.
