My Mate Neo springs Townsville Derby Final upset
My Mate Neo landed the upset against an odds-on favourite to take out the Townsville Derby Final on Tuesday night.
The Greta Thomson-trained chaser lined up as a +1200 prospect with the top greyhound bookmakers, going against a -105.26 race favourite in the Heath Ardle-trained Jimmy Roo.
Jumping from the green box, Jimmy Roo speared out to the lead with My Mate Neo sitting in second.
Into the home straight, My Mate Neo came through on the rails to salute in 28.70, beating home Jimmy Roo and Handy Jimmy (+1800) by one and a half lengths.
It was his first win since August 1, when he saluted over the same 498m trip at Townsville.
The Barcia Bale x Neo Cleo dog now has eight wins and six placings from 25 career starts and has banked $23,070 in prize money for connections.
