NSW chasers zip into Gold Bullion final
Recent Gosford Cup winner Zipping Kyrgios continued on his winning ways on Thursday night at Albion Park, sizzling around the 520m Queensland circuit in a slick 29.68 to book a spot in the Group 1 Gold Bullion final on February 3.
The blue blazer by Aussie Infrared x Zipping Lilly took full advantage of an inside draw to score by 4.25 lengths at the finish with his run home of 12.61 by far the quickest of the night, with the next best being 12.88 recorded by the second fastest qualifier in Louis Rumble, who clocked 29.85 overall.
Fellow NSW chaser Jungle Deuce picked up where he left off after his sensational win in the Group 1 Paws Of Thunder final last week, maintaining his perfect career record at Albion Park with another traditional come-from-behind performance to edge out $101 outsider Special Cyndie by 2.5 lengths in 30.01. It was the son of Barcia Bale and Serena Fly High’s sixth consecutive victory, and with a favourable box two in next weeks final, Jack Smith will be hopeful of adding another Group 1 win to his already-impressive resume.
Jeff Britton‘s Do It bounced back from his seventh placing in the Paws Of Thunder final with an impressive victory from box eight in 30.07, Louis Rumble for Steve Kavanagh returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in 2022 in a slick 29.85, while local hope Orchestra for astute mentor Tony Brett won the final heat from box eight in a solid 30.00, notching up his third-straight win.
