Valpolicella set to be 15th Aussie greyhound millionaire
In an awaited event at Albion Park on Thursday evening, Valpolicella, a standout in greyhound racing owned by Sandro Bechini and trained by Tony Zammit, is on the brink of becoming Australia's 15th greyhound to reach a million dollars in prize money.
With a track record of 52 races and 29 wins, Valpolicella has raked in $989,525 in prize money.
The upcoming Dashing Corsair race over 710 metres presents Valpolicella with a chance to claim a $30,000 prize and make her mark in the annals of history.
Valpolicella showcased her skills during the heat race for The Dashing Corsair on May 29, clocking a time of 41.67 seconds and leaving her competitors trailing behind by almost 12 lengths.
Despite drawing box 5 for the race, the online bookmakers remain optimistic about Valpolicella's capabilities, as she is currently priced at $1.45 at Neds.
Although their are some reservations about Valpolicella's performance in the G1 Sandown Cup final on May 24, where she placed behind Irish Millie and Cayna Amy despite being the $1.90 betting favourite.
