GAP And GRV Donate $10,000 To Good Friday Appeal

A group of friendly greyhounds and their owners stood out from the crowd at Etihad Stadium on Good Friday.

An organised 2km stroll from Greyhound Racing Victoriass (GRV) West Melbourne offices to the stadium on the day culminated in a donation of $10,000 from GRV and its Greyhound Adoption Program to the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal (GFA).

A special presentation, which included GRV CEO John Stephens being interviewed by television personality Mia Greeves, was televised as part of Channel 7’s Good Friday Appeal coverage.

“The greyhounds we have brought to Etihad Stadium today are among the 3,000 to have been adopted into Victorian homes over the past decade”, Mr. Stephens said.

When prompted further about greyhounds as pets, Mr. Stephens said…“There are a lot of misconceptions about greyhounds but in truth they are very placid, don’t bark much or shed a lot of hair, and are generally quite lazy.”

The group comprised of members of a greyhound walking club that spent many weekends in the lead-up to Good Friday walking the streets of Melbourne with their pet greyhounds while rattling tins to raise money for the GFA.
