Great Chase Finalist Disqualified Due To Positive Swab

Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) has just notified Australian Racing Greyhound.com that one of the 2008 Great Chase Finalists has been disqualified from its semi-final win due to a positive swab and will not contest this Wednesday’s Great Chase Final held on Wednesday, 26th November, 2008 at the MGRA’s Meadows track..

At 1.34pm this afternoon, Monday, 24th November, 2008 GRV Chief Steward, Dr. Brian Williams was notified of the presence of the drug Dexamethasone in a sample taken from the Geoff Mitchell trained greyhound Outa There after the greyhound had competed in a Semi-Final of the 2008 Great Chase at Cranbourne on 18th
November, 2008.

Pursuant to GAR83(5) and GRV LRR44.2, Stewards at 2.00pm today disqualified the greyhound Outa There from the Semi-Final and subsequently the Grand Final of the Great Chase to be held on Wednesday, 26th November, 2008.

Acting under GAR22(7), Stewards have replaced the disqualified greyhound Outa There in the Grand Final of the Great Chase with the greyhound Quick Drink who is subsequently declared as the winner of the relevant Semi-Final from the Great Chase held on 18th November, 2008.

Quick Drink will therefore race in the Grand Final of the Great Chase from Box 2.

An inquiry into the sample taken from Outa There following the running of the relevant Semi-Final of the Great Chase at the Cranbourne Greyhound Racing Club on 18th November, 2008 will be held at a date to be advised.
